A New Saint Session - Review on Violent Solutions

There are some bands who have sold millions of albums and I wonder why. There are also bands which are not appreciated for their true value. We won't solve the worlds problems or dispense justice inside the music business... and the most important thing for a music lover is to listen to good music. In brief, IRIS Corporation is underestimated however they've composed excellent songs. They have no huge means but their album is really well produced. They do not sell trucks of albums but they keep the faith and in listening to what they're proposing, they are dead right.
Friends of VS, I warn you, there is no extreme metal in this album. We speak here about thoroughbred and melodic Hard rock. The influences ? Led Zeppelin of course but also Jeff Buckey, Aerosmith, Jeff Beck and a handfull of artists from the Middle East whose names don't mean much to me, I must admit...
To continue summing up, IRIS Corporation is a solid rhythm section mixing groove and subtlety. It is a guitar with arabian and rustic tones enveloping a high pitched mesmerizing voice which confers on the band a real personality because of its very pronounced nature. When I speak about oriental music, I want to be clear on this : the guitarist is not content with strolling on the harmonious minor mode with his guitar in standard tuning. Here, open-tunings are the done thing to demonstrate the real passion of the band for this music, as well as the technical skill of the guitarist. Like the famous Jimmy Page was sometimes searching for in his time, John IRIS plays open-tunings that aim to sound close to the sitar or the oud.
As I said before, his voice is rather high - with a few incursions in the low range - and at time, the singer shows he has a very wide vocal range.The drummer hits straight and true. Inspired by the groove of funk and hip-hop music, the guy knows how to play heavier when necessary and prefers the precision of his attacks to offer the songs solid foundations.
A bit like Ian Paice from Deep Purple, the drummer plays "for the sake of economy". It's more and more rare and it's a pity. No machine gun drum break here, a real pleasure because too many drummers tend to play as if they were in permanent Master Class quickly forgetting that drums are not yet an Olympic discipline. One only listening to "The Greedman" is enough to understand what I am talking about : the introduction is fuckin' groovy.
The bass is tubby like a too fat American and it's purring all through the album.
Songs are for the greater part in minor tones and give a rather dark color to the album. "Highest Love" or "A New Saint Session", both excellent tracks, are good examples of the melancholic tones which IRIS Corporation likes to create. I cannot ignore the attractive digipack and the very beautiful booklet over. The images suit the music perfectly.
I cannot ignore the very good quality "home" production too which is teeming with lots of small, really nice sound details.
Some bright spots nevertheless cut a path through this album. With this in mind, I recommend to you the excellent "Jack And Amy" - you will note the play on words - which is really dancy and bouncy.
In spite of the dark side, the singer is not avaricious with puns and hidden meanings. So the chorus of "Jack and Amy" - Dance with the Beaver - is an allusion to the trinket and to the female organs; oh yes, you may recall the song of Primus with its subtle "Wynoma's Big Brown Beaver". Lover of beavers, you will find what you are looking for here.
In the end, an album that will delight the lovers of beautiful melodies and beautiful songs. Friends of VS, if you like work well done, come and have a dance with IRIS Corporation. They are always faithfully accompanied with their loyal Beaver and I know there are beaver lovers among all us troop of hairy guys.

Il est de ces groupes dont on se demande comment ils ont fait pour vendre des millions d’albums. Il existe aussi des groupes qui ne sont pas connus à leur juste valeur. On ne refera pas le monde, ni le music business et l’important pour un mélomane, c’est d’écouter de bons albums de musique. Pour faire rapide, Iris Corporation est méconnu mais ils ont composé d’excellentes chansons. Ils n’ont pas de gros moyens mais leur album est vraiment bien produit. Ils n’ont pas vendu des camions d’albums mais ils y croient, et au vu de ce qu’ils proposent, ils ont bien raison.
Amis de VS je vous préviens, il n’y a pas grand-chose de métal extrême dans cet album. On parle ici de Hard rock racé et mélodique. Les influences ? Led Zeppelin bien sûr mais aussi Jeff Buckey, Aerosmith, Jeff Beck et une poignée d’artistes issus du Moyen Orient dont j’avoue, les noms ne m’évoquent pas grand-chose.
Pour continuer à faire simple, Iris Corporation c’est une section rythmique en béton mêlant le groove à la finesse. C’est une guitare aux sonorités rustiques et arabisantes habillant une voix envoûtante et haut perchée qui de par son caractère très marqué confère au groupe une personnalité réelle. Quand je parle de musique orientale soyons clair : le guitariste ne se contente pas de se balader sur le mode mineur harmonique avec sa guitare accordé en standard. Ici, les open-tunings sont de rigueur et démontrent de la véritable passion du groupe pour cette musique, ainsi que de la technicité du guitariste. Comme le recherchait par moment le fameux Jimmy Page à son époque, il y a des opens visant à se rapprocher du Sitar ou du Oud.
La voix est comme je le disais précédemment assez aiguë - avec quelques petites incursions dans les graves - et à plus d’un moment, le chanteur démontre qu’il a une amplitude vocale très importante.
Le batteur tape droit et juste. Inspiré du funk et des grooves hip hop, le garçon sait jouer plus massif quand cela est nécessaire et privilégie la justesse de ses attaques offrant ainsi aux chansons des fondations solides.
Un peu comme Ian Paice de Deep Purple, il frappe à «l’économie» chose de plus en plus rare - et c’est dommage - chez les batteurs.
Point de break mitraillette ici, ce qui fait franchement plaisir car trop de batteurs ont tendance à se croire en master class permanente oubliant un peu vite que la batterie n’est pas encore une discipline olympique. Une simple écoute de «The greedman» vous suffira à comprendre de quoi je parle, l’intro groove sa race.
La basse est rondouillarde comme un Américain trop fat et elle ronronne tout au long de l’album.
Les chansons sont en majorité dans des tonalités mineures et donne une couleur plutôt noire à l’ensemble. «Highest Love» ou «A New Saint Session», tous deux d’excellents morceaux, sont de bons exemples des sonorités mélancoliques qu’aiment à créer les IC.
Je ne peux pas passer sous silence le très beau livret et la jolie jaquette du digipack. Les images vont à merveilles avec le contenu.
Je ne passe pas non plus la production « at home » vraiment de très bonne qualité et qui fourmille de plein de petits détails sonores vraiment sympathiques.
Quelques éclaircies parviennent néanmoins à se frayer un chemin tout au long de cet album. Je vous conseille dans ce sens, le très bon « Jack And Amy » - vous noterez le jeu de mots - qui est véritablement dansant et sautillant.
Malgré le côté sombre, le chanteur n’est pas non plus avare de calembours et de sens cachés. En effet, le refrain de «Jack and Amy» - Dance with the Beaver - est une allusion à la bagatelle et au sexe féminin; eh oui, rappelez vous en ce sens de la chanson de Primus avec son subtil «Wynoma’s big brown Beaver». Amoureux des castors, vous trouverez là votre bonheur.
Au final, un album qui ravira les amateurs de belles mélodies et de belles chansons. Amis de VS, si vous aimez le travail bien fait venez danser un peu avec IRIS Corporation. Ils sont toujours fidèlement accompagné de leur fidèle Beaver et je sais qu’il y a des amateurs de castors parmi les hordes de poilus que nous sommes.

A New Saint Session - Review on GDB-Ni Moules Ni Encens

In february 2008, I wrote an article about a 4 track CD, a prelude to the full album. At the time, I spoke very highly about that EP. Listening to the 13 track album re-affirms my opinion : This album is a jewel; it conveys the same emotion as a page of Baudelaire or an operatic aria that moves every fibre in your body. It's the same feeling, it envelopes you, it penetrates deep within you. Indescribable : voice ? music ? They make up a whole.
Rock music of course, but oriental too, arabic-andalousian, even orchestral, and with only 3 musicians; The voice is the kind that is unique, very highly pitched, but also deep and spellbinding. The whole takes you into another universe, often warm and sweet, where all is order and beauty, luxury, peace and sensual delight; and then sometimes to a more violent, but still seductive world, like in "The Greedman". I recommend to you this rare album. Treat yourself to this superb piece.

En février 2008, j’avais chroniqué un CD 4 titres prélude à un album plus conséquent. A l’époque je m’étais montré fort élogieuse pour cet EP.
L’écoute du 13 titres n’a fait que me renforcer dans mon jugement : Cet album est un joyau; il donne la même émotion qu’une page de Baudelaire ou un air d’opéra qui vous prend par toutes les fibres de votre corps. C’est pareil, cela vous enveloppe, pénétre en vous. Indescriptible : la musique ? la voix ? c’est un tout.
La musique rock certes, mais aussi orientale, arabo-andalouse, orchestrale même, bien qu’il ne soit que trois musiciens ; la voix, du genre dont on dit qu’elles sont uniques, très haut perchée, mais pouvant se faire très profonde, envoûtante.
Le tout vous porte dans un autre univers souvent chaud et doux, “où tout n’est qu’ordre et beauté, luxe, calme et volupté”, parfois dans un monde plus violent, mais séduisant aussi comme dans “The greedman”. Un album rare, que je ne peux que vous conseiller. Offrez vous un objet superbe.

The New Sensation...
It happens when one falls desperately in love with a woman. Whatever company you keep at the time, you can only think of her and only want to be with her. IRIS Corporation's new album "A New Saint Session" has the same effect on me. Normally, after playing an album I put it away and play the next one. It is different with "A New Saint Session". I remove the disc reluctantly and for good reason. I want to listen to it on every occasion possible, and I am drawn indefatigably to it, despite having to review other albums. I need to watch myself, because my 4 year old son, with no interest in rock music, has begun to hum "I am the Greedman" and my wife looks at me kindly and says "You really like this, don't you ?"
Yes, I love IRIS Corporation and I sincerely think this band deserves particular attention. Moreover, I am rarely enthusiastic about interviews, but in this case I was tempted by the challenge. And John Iris, the leader of this exceptional combo, kindly agreed to answer my questions.......

Q. To begin with, introduce IRIS Corporation to us....
A. IRIS Corporation is a trio native to Albi in the South of France. It's composed of Thibaut Gluchowski, Will De La Perez and John Iris. Our music is clearly rock orientated but Rock tinged with World Music. In fact, the expression "World Rock" seems best to define it's spirit.

Q. On listening to "A New Saint Session" with its mix of electric and acoustic, oriental influences and high pitched vocals, we think immediately of Led Zeppelin, however, none of your songs resemble tracks from Robert Plant and Jimmy Page. Is Led Zeppelin really one of your influences ?
A. Our artistic progression really results from an urge, at first sight, to bring two very different cultures closer. Led Zeppelin showed the way with some of their songs, and they remain a major reference for numerous bands, including us. But our influences are western as well as oriental. This interbreeding together with personal experiences give a particular colour to our music.

Q. What other musicians inspired you ? What music did you grow up with ?
A. We can name Rabih Abou Khalil, Radiohead, Munir Bashir, Jeff Buckley, Chemirani, Massive Attack, Pink Floyd, Natacha Atlas, Rage Against The Machine and many others... Globally, the rock of the 70s and 90s and improvised music from the entire world.

Q. Where does this oriental side, which shows in some of your songs like "Highest Love" and "HeartH", come from ?
A. The oriental tones became the base of our compositions little by little. They convey a very deep and sensual ambiance. I have always been fascinated with such associations in songs like "I dont know" by Noa or "Friends" by Led Zeppelin. We therefore delved into this area to integrate World Music elements into traditional rock.

Q. If, as we have already mentioned, your music evokes Led Zeppelin, your sound is very current and totally different from the bands of the 70s. Do you feel closer to more recent groups, such as The Answer or Witchcraft, who try to find the vintage sound of the 70s ?
A. The work of "The Answer" and "Witchcraft" is remarkable in many ways. But actually, we care little about the fashion for vintage. On the other hand we appreciate groups like "The Mars Volta" and "Queens Of The Stone Age" who are able to respect their elders whilst creating new colour at the same time.

Q. Could you explain the title of the album "A New Saint Session" ?
A. The title is a play on words... "A New Saint Session" - A new sensation. It synthesises the themes we tackle in our lyrics. The "new" aspect being necessary for the evolution of our societies, the awareness of what is "holy" but not in a religious sense, and acknowledges life in the same way as our ecosystem. It also integrates the notion of the beginning of a way of thinking, finally respecting Man and the environment.

Q. Your lyrics are very critical towards current society and the devastation caused by the science of man over nature. Do you believe that it is a duty for artists to open up people's eyes to certain world problems ?
A. If art allows us to confirm and advance the idea that our societies should be based on a model of sharing and living in harmony, then we should not hesitate ! As for science, it can be the best and the worst thing. Einstein regretted that his discoveries resulted in the atomic bomb. Everything is a question of conciousness. Humanity has to guard its ethics and not play with fire, without halting its own evolution.

Q. Some of you lyrics such as "Highest Love" and "Sun Dog" seem to openly criticize religion. Do you believe that religion is just another way to abuse the trustworthiness of people ?
A. History exposes drifts as a result of religion, from the time when we thought the earth was flat to our present day fundamentalism. Religion often dictates answers to metaphysical questions by passing them as actual knowledge. Each person has a personality, a "soul", and a different route linked to its traditions, culture and abilities. Religion often seizes on areas left void by knowledge. Too often some of them have spread the fear of tomorrow in order to gain power. However, this is only my humble opinion and does not detract from the power of the individual and their faith.

Q. The artwork of your album is absolutely magnificent. Can you tell us about Nicolas Sénégas, the artist who designed it. How did you come to work with him ? Did you give him precise instructions or did he work solo ?
A . We are really proud of the design by Nicolas Sénégas. We met each other ten years ago and were seduced by his world. He encircled the lyrics and music of the album and produced a magnificent iconography ! From the heart representing love and sharing to modern and ancient mystic symbols. Q. Your album was mastered by Michel Geiss who worked with Jean-Michel Jarre, Michel Jonasz, Michel Sardou, Catherine Lara, Trust, Lio, Marc Lavoine, Patrick Bruel et Laurent Voulzy. Does his contribution explain the exeptional sound quality of "A New Saint Session" ? How did you come to work with him ?
A. Michel Geiss was an important contact for us. A mutual friend arranged a meeting and his work on the mastering showed flawless efficiency and a respect for the original sound. We spent a lot of time mixing the album, polishing up every detail and obtaining a powerful and yet at the same time, ethereal sound. Too radical a mastering would have crushed the sound space. Michel found the perfect compromise. He is a great professional who develops the artistic value of every project he works on just that little bit more. What is often a strictly mathematical and technical step becomes an additional embellishment in his hands.

Q. IRIS Corporation seems to be your baby because your surname is Iris. Are you the band's main composer or do you allow Thibaut and Will to participate in the creative process ?
A. We have a very open way of working. We use additional musicians for percussions and vocals. Any outside contribution brings with it additional wealth. It's the same for the internal functioning of the band. Each of us is free to develop his part as he wishes. Even if I am the mainstay of the group, songs are generally composed together.

Q. Do you consider IRIS Corporation a French group ? What do you think of the evolution of French hard rock and Metal these last years ? Are you finding that French bands are gaining a musical credibility they didn't have before ?
A. Of course, IRIS Corporation is a french band. And as one sees the success of bands like Gorija and Watcha in the US there is no reason to fear this situation anymore. Of course we are a little bit sceptical with regard to the attitude of the french media and record companies and their willingness or capacity to promote or sign bands that hold real international potential. The old inferiority complex towards the Anglo-Saxons still only exists in their minds. Numerous french bands obviously have potential and top the bill on the other side of the Atlantic with a little support.

Q. Nevertheless, being originally American, don't you think that it would be easier to make a name for IRIS Corporation in the US rather than Europe ?
A. My nationality is French even though I feel much more like a citizen of the world. But we are more widely broadcast in the US than in France and it would only take the smallest thing for us to reach a wider public with our friends over the Atlantic. Fortunately, we have the Web and this allows us to be more and more visible all over the world.

Q. Is IRIS Corporation's album internationally distributed ? How can we get hold of it in Belgium ?

La nouvelle sensation...
Il arrive de tomber éperdument amoureux d’une femme. Quelle que soit la compagnie du moment, c’est à elle que l’on pense et avec elle que l’on a envie d’être. "A New Saint Session", le nouvel album d’IRIS Corporation me fait à peu près le même effet. Généralement, quand la chronique d’un album est terminée, je range le Cd et je passe à un autre. Il en va un peu différemment pour ce « A New Saint Session ». Et pour cause, je ne retire ce disque de ma platine qu’à regret. Quel que soit l’album à chroniquer, c’est toujours celui-là que j’ai envie d’écouter ; et c’est vers lui que je reviens inlassablement dès que l’occasion se présente. Il faut que je commence à me surveiller ; car mon fils (âgé de quatre ans), pourtant pas intéressé par le rock pour un sou, commence à fredonner "I am The Greedman" et mon épouse me regarde d’un air compatissant en me jetant : ‘T’aime bien ce truc hein ?’ Et bien oui, j’aime IRIS Corporation, et je pense sincèrement que ce groupe mérite une attention toute particulière ! D’ailleurs, en général peu enthousiaste pour réaliser des interviews, je me suis laissé tenter par le challenge. Et John Iris, le leader de ce combo exceptionnel, a accepté de bonne grâce, de répondre à mes questions…

Q : Pour commencer, pourrais-tu présenter Iris Corporation ?
R : Iris Corporation est un trio originaire d'Albi dans le sud de la France. Il est composé de Thibaut Gluchowski, Will De La Perez et John Iris. Notre musique est clairement orientée rock ; mais un rock teinté de musiques du monde. En fait, l'expression ‘World Rock’ semble ainsi le mieux définir son esprit.

Q : A l’écoute de « A New Saint Session » et de son mélange d’électrique et d’acoustique, d’ambiances orientales et de vocaux haut-perchés, on pense immédiatement à Led Zeppelin ; pourtant, aucune de vos chansons ne ressemble vraiment à un titre de groupe de Robert Plant et Jimmy Page. Led Zeppelin fait il vraiment partie de vos influences ?
R : Notre cheminement artistique résulte vraiment d'une envie de rapprocher des cultures à priori très différentes. Led Zeppelin a montré la voie sur quelques uns de leurs titres et reste une référence majeure pour de très nombreux groupes, y compris le nôtre. Mais nos influences sont tout autant occidentales qu'orientales. Ce métissage et beaucoup de recherches personnelles donnent cette couleur particulière à notre musique.

Q : Quelles sont les autres formations qui vous ont inspiré ? Avec quelle musique avez-vous grandi ?
R : On peut citer Rabih Abou Khalil, Radiohead, Munir Bashir, Jeff Buckley, Chemirani, Massive Attack, Pink Floyd, Natacha Atlas, Rage Against The Machine et bien d'autres... Globalement, le rock des années 70 et 90 et les musiques improvisées du monde entier.

Q : D’où vient ce côté oriental qui transparaît dans certains de vos titres comme « Highest Love » et « HeartH » ?
R : Les sonorités orientales sont petit à petit devenues une base de nos compositions. Les ambiances y sont très profondes et sensuelles. De telles associations m'ont toujours fasciné dans des titres comme "I Don't Know" de Noa ou "Friends" de Led Zeppelin. Nous avons donc creusé afin d'intégrer des éléments World dans le rock traditionnel.

Q : Si, comme on l’a dit plus haut, votre musique évoque Led Zeppelin, votre son est cependant très actuel et diffère totalement des formations issues des seventies. Te sens-tu plus proche d’ensembles récents comme The Answer ou Witchcraft qui tentent de retrouver le son vintage des années 70 ?
R : Le travail de The Answer et Witchcraft est remarquable en bien des points. Mais à vrai dire, nous nous soucions peu de la mode vintage. Nous apprécions par contre beaucoup des groupes comme The Mars Volta ou Queens Of The Stone Age qui tout en conservant un respect immense envers leurs aînés sont capables d’amener une couleur nouvelle.

Q : Pourrais-tu expliquer le titre de l’album : "A new Saint Session" ?
R : Le titre est un jeu de mots : "A New Sensation" - "Une Nouvelle Sensation". Il synthétise les thèmes abordés dans nos textes : le côté ‘nouveau’ nécessaire à l'évolution de nos sociétés, la prise de conscience de ce qui est objectivement ‘Saint’ dans un sens non religieux et permet la vie, comme notre écosystème. Il intègre aussi la notion du début d'un mode de pensée respectant enfin l'environnement et l’Homme.

Q : Tes textes sont très critiques à l’égard de la société actuelle et des ravages causés par la science des hommes sur la nature. Crois-tu qu’il est un devoir pour les artistes d’ouvrir les yeux du public sur certains problèmes de notre monde ?
R : Si l'art permet de faire avancer et admettre l’idée que les modèles de fonctionnement de nos sociétés devraient être basés sur le partage afin de permettre à l'homme de vivre en harmonie, alors il ne faut pas hésiter ! Quant à la science, elle peut être la meilleure et la pire des choses. Einstein regrettait que ses découvertes aient amené la bombe atomique. Tout est une question de conscience. L'Humanité doit garder une éthique pour ne pas jouer avec le feu sans pour autant empêcher son évolution.

Q : Certains de tes textes comme "Highest Love" ou "Sun Dog" semblent critiquer ouvertement la religion. Crois-tu que les religions ne sont qu’une autre manière d’abuser de la crédibilité des gens ?
R : L'histoire révèle des dérives dues à la religion, de la terre plate aux intégrismes de tout temps. La religion souvent dicte des réponses à des questions métaphysiques en les faisant passer pour un savoir. Chacun a une personnalité, une "âme", et un parcours différents liés aux traditions, à la culture et à ses facultés. La religion a souvent confisqué des domaines laissés vides par la connaissance. Trop souvent certaines propagent la peur du lendemain pour en retirer du pouvoir. Mais ce n'est que mon humble avis et n'enlève aucune force à la foi individuelle.

Q : L’artwork de votre album est absolument magnifique. Peux-tu nous parler de Nicolas Sénégas, l’artiste qui l’a réalisé ? Comment en êtes-vous venus à travailler avec lui ? Lui avez-vous donné des directives bien précises ou a-t-il travaillé en solitaire ?
R : Nous sommes effectivement très fiers du travail réalisé par Nicolas Sénégas. Nous nous connaissons depuis une dizaine d'années et son univers nous a toujours séduits. Il a merveilleusement cerné les textes et la musique de l'album pour réaliser une iconographie splendide ! Du cœur représentant l'amour et le partage aux symboles mystiques récents ou anciens. Q : Votre album a été masterisé par Michel Geiss qui a travaillé avec Jean-Michel Jarre, Michel Jonasz, Michel Sardou, Catherine Lara, Trust, Lio, Marc Lavoine, Patrick Bruel et Laurent Voulzy. Ce concours explique-t-il la qualité exceptionnelle du son de "A New Saint Session" ? Comment avez-vous été amené à travailler avec lui ?
R : Michel Geiss est une rencontre importante pour nous. C'est un ami commun qui nous a mis en contact et son travail au niveau du mastering a fait preuve d'une efficacité et d'un respect du son originel sans défaut. Nous avons passé beaucoup de temps au mixage de l'album, pour peaufiner chaque détail et obtenir un son en même temps puissant et aéré. Un mastering trop radical aurait écrasé l'espace sonore. Michel a trouvé le parfait compromis. C'est un grand professionnel qui développe encore un peu plus la valeur artistique du projet qu'il masterise. Ce qui n'est souvent qu'une étape purement mathématique et technique devient un embellissement supplémentaire.

Q : Iris Corporation semble être ton bébé puisque tu portes pour nom de famille Iris. Es-tu le compositeur principal du groupe ou laisses-tu Thibaut et Will participer à l’élaboration de vos titres ?
R : Notre fonctionnement est très ouvert. Nous avons fait appel à quelques musiciens additionnels pour les percussions ou les chœurs. Tout apport extérieur est souvent accompagné de richesses supplémentaires. Il en est de même pour le fonctionnement interne au groupe. Chacun est libre de développer ses parties comme il le conçoit. Même si je suis le moteur du groupe, les titres sont généralement composés ensemble.

Q : Considères-tu Iris Corporation comme un groupe français ? Que penses-tu de l’évolution de la scène Hard Rock et Métal française de ces dernières années ? Ne trouves-tu pas que les Français gagnent une crédibilité musicale qu’ils n’avaient pas avant ?
R : Iris Corporation est bien entendu un groupe français. Et vu le succès de groupes comme Gojira ou Watcha aux États-Unis, il n'y a plus vraiment de crainte à avoir par rapport à cette situation. Certes, l'attitude des médias et maisons de disques françaises nous laissent un peu dubitatif quant à leur volonté ou capacité à promouvoir ou signer des groupes jouissant d’un vrai potentiel international. Le vieux complexe d'infériorité par rapport aux Anglo-saxons n'existe plus que chez eux. De nombreux groupes hexagonaux ont évidemment ce potentiel et explosent de l'autre coté de l'Atlantique dés qu'ils sont un peu soutenus.

Q : Pourtant, en étant d’origine américaine, ne penses-tu pas qu’IRIS Corporation aurait plus de facilité à percer aux États-Unis qu’en Europe ?
R : Ma nationalité est bien française même si je me sens beaucoup plus un citoyen du monde. Mais nous sommes effectivement plus diffusés aux Etats-Unis qu'en France et il suffirait de peu de choses pour que nous puissions toucher un public beaucoup plus large chez nos amis d'outre-Atlantique. Heureusement, le web existe et nous permet d'être de plus en plus visibles dans le monde entier.

Q : L’album d’Iris Corporation est-il distribué internationalement ? Comment peut-on se le procurer en Belgique ?
R : Le label qui travaille avec nous, Muzikom, est associatif. Il travaille remarquablement mais ne dispose pas d'une puissance financière égale à celle d'un label international. I truly believe that there is no band in France at the moment that plays more beautiful music than IRIS Corporation.
Originating from Albi (Tarn), this trio has just released a masterpiece of french Rock and Hard-Rock Music. Its title : "A New Saint Session".
The high-pitched voice of John IRIS and subtle association of electric and acoustic guitar are transcended by Hard Rock, in which the mixing of cultures embraces haunting and atmospheric rhythms, dyed with sweet oriental fragrance. IRIS Corporation portrays a modern Led Zeppelin, completely rooted in its era. Production is limpid and clear, far more careful than certain international big names.
English lyrics with poetic and esoteric accents reflect ecological and humanist stands of the three Albigeois, while the artwork in digipack format is a gem of a package that makes us want, once again, to buy music with a physical form instead of inane digital downloading.
IRIS Corporation deserves to become an international band. He has the stature. Letting him stagnate on the french underground level
would be a monumental mistake for the music business and a heavy loss for all those who love very good music.

Je crois sincèrement qu’il n’existe pas, en France, à l’heure actuelle, de groupe jouant une musique plus belle que celle d’Iris Corporation. Originaire d’Albi dans le Tarn, ce trio vient de sortir un des chefs d’œuvres du Rock et du Hard Rock Français. Son titre : « A new saint session ».
La voix haut-perchée de John Iris et le subtil mélange de guitare électrique acoustique sont transcendés par un hard rock dont le métissage culturel embrasse des rythmes lancinants et atmosphériques teintés d’un doux parfum oriental. Iris Corporation campe un Led Zeppelin modernisé complètement ancré dans son époque. La production est limpide et claire, bien plus soignée que celle de certaines pointures internationales.
Des textes (en anglais) aux accents poétiques et ésotériques reflètent les positions écologiques et humanistes des 3 Albigeois, tandis que l’artwork du cd, en format digipak, est un petit bijou qui redonne envie d’acheter de la musique sur un support physique et non au ‘bête’ format informatique.
Iris Corporation mérite de devenir un groupe international. Il en a l’envergure. Le laisser végéter à un niveau underground français serait une erreur monumentale pour le music business et une grande perte pour tous les amateurs de (très) bonne musique.
